About Columbus Events Guide
Hi, I’m glad you’re here
I started Columbus Events Guide because I got tired of piecing together my weekend plans from different websites, apps, Facebook events, and whatever my friends happened to text me. I’ve been covering the Columbus events and lifestyle scene for over 20 years, and somewhere along the way, keeping a running list of the best brunch spots and my favorite shopping spots turned into this site.
I’m a Columbus local, not a transplant writing about a city from the outside. I’ve lived here long enough to know which Short North boutiques are worth the walk, which German Village restaurant actually deserves the wait, and which Easton parking garage to avoid on a Saturday afternoon. This site is my attempt to save you the trial and error I’ve already gone through.
What I actually know
I spend a lot of time in a handful of neighborhoods, and I’m upfront about that. German Village, the Short North, Grandview, and Clintonville are where I’ve spent the most time exploring, shopping, and eating, so those are the guides you’ll find the most detail in. I’m always expanding into other pockets of Central Ohio, but I’d rather tell you honestly what I know well than pretend I’ve mastered every corner of the metro.
When I recommend a spa, a thrift store, or a happy hour spot, it’s because I’ve been there myself, not because it showed up in a press release. I check hours, pricing, and booking links before I publish anything, and I go back and update guides when things change, because there’s nothing worse than driving across town for a place that closed six months ago. “Although, it’s possible that you find out before me and if that’s the case, please send me an email to let me know so I can update the information on here.
Who this site is for
Columbus Events Guide is built primarily for women in Central Ohio who want a real local’s take on where to go and what to do, whether that’s planning a girls’ night out, finding a new fitness class, or just figuring out where to get a good happy hour deal on a Tuesday. If you’re visiting Columbus and want recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist stops, you’re in the right place too.
How I put these guides together
Every guide on this site starts with either firsthand experience or serious research. I verify addresses, hours, and pricing before anything goes live, and I favor small local businesses and independent spots over big chains whenever I can. I also try to be specific. You won’t find vague suggestions like “check out some local shops.” You’ll find actual names, actual addresses, and actual reasons why a place made the list.
Let’s stay in touch
If you’ve got a favorite Columbus spot I haven’t covered yet, or you think I got something wrong, I want to hear about it. This site works best when it stays current and honest, and that only happens with people who actually live here telling me what’s really going on.
